What the opener is doing

Motor runs, door does not move
The main drive gear stripped or the trolley let go of the chain. Common on chain-drive units past 15 years. If the door itself is balanced, we replace the gear and carriage. If the springs are also worn, we tell you before we touch the opener.

Door goes down a foot and comes back up
The photo eyes are fogged, knocked out of line, or a bracket got kicked. In winter, condensation and frost on the lenses do this every morning. We realign them and clean or replace the sensors.

Nothing happens after a thunderstorm
A surge took out the logic board. On a newer unit we replace the board. On an older one, a new opener is usually cheaper than the board alone, and we will tell you which.

Remote works from the driveway but not the street
Bad antenna, LED bulb interference, or a receiver on its way out. Small fix, quick visit.

Opener strains and groans in the cold
Grease stiffens, the door is heavier on frozen rollers, and an old motor works harder than it should. Sometimes the fix is on the door, not the opener. We check both.
